The Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport is an iconic 5 star hotel with 315 accommodation rooms, located at the entrance to the Sydney domestic airport. We have 11 elegant function rooms ranging from our grand ballroom, to meeting rooms and to corporate style boardrooms. Also on site is La Boca, our vibrant Argentinean Grill, AV8 Bar, a casual diner and 24 hour room service.

We are currently looking for a dynamic, results orientated and passionate Conference & Events Sales Manager to join our fast paced team.

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the Conference & Events Sales Department. You are passionate about selling the best product in the area to capitalise on the hotels opportunities. You are motivated to drive revenue for conference and banquets as well as restaurant and bar events. You will implement and optimise up to date selling strategies to maximise lead conversion into sales. You will work hand in hand with the business development team to obtain additional leads for sales conversion.

This is a hands-on role which requires leadership, administration, relationship building, selling and people development skills.

The Ideal candidate will have a solid background in Conference & Events and is ready for the next step in their career!


Key responsibilities and tasks consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Proactively follow up quotes and enquires to develop business
  • Work closely with the Business Development Team to obtain and pass on new leads
  • Provide quotations for all events within the hotel
  • Manage, train and coach a team of Events Coordinators
  • Analyse the competitive marketplace and implement strategies to ensure the hotel stays ahead of the local market
  • Identify opportunities to cross sell outlets and other hotels within the group
  • Attend trade functions and promotions as directed for networking opportunities and to keep abreast of industry developments
  • Build strong relationships with customers and deal with any customer feedback
  • Provide regular reports on revenues against budget and provide accurate forecasting

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience in conference & events or banquets background 
  • Proven track record of event sales and sound knowledge of the Industry
  • Leadership skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written
  • 5-star hotel standards of personal presentation and grooming
  • The ability to work in a fast paced environment, under pressure to meet deadlines and targets
  • Must be proficient in MS Office programs and have understanding of events sales system
  • Knowledge of Delphi system is an advantage
