Lyndon is a non-government organisation providing alcohol and other drug treatment in residential and non-residential programs. The organisation provides residential services in Orange and non-residential programs to much of the western and central west, including the Murdi Paaki Region (from Brewarrina to Dareton), and in Bega on the south coast of NSW.

About the Lyndon Community Outreach Service
Lyndon Outreach Service is a free and confidential service provided to the communities in western and central west NSW by Lyndon. Operating in multiple locations, the service is responsive to the wide range of needs of the drug and alcohol using population who access the service.
About the Opportunity
Lyndon has a rewarding opportunity available for an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Practice Leader to join their programme on a full-time basis until June 2018, with likely extension until June 2020. Ideally this person will be based in Dubbo, however, the Lyndon will also consider candidates wishing to base themselves out of Broken Hill or Cobar.
The AOD Practice Leader will work in close consultation with the RFDS Program Manager to coordinate the ongoing delivery of support, training and supervision to RFDS employees in Dubbo and the Murdi Paaki region of NSW.
The AOD Practice Leader has a critical role in developing the availability and accessibility of D&A services by delivering high-quality training, supervision and consultancy services to network sites including to primary health staff and other non D&A specialist positions.
Your additional responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Work in partnership with local AMS, health and community service workers to support delivery of drug and alcohol services in each location;
- Support the development of culturally appropriate and effective local responses to substance use/misuse disorders including screening, promotion, prevention, early intervention and community education programs;
- Provide clinical leadership within the region, including modelling and demonstrating professional substance intervention skills and harm reduction approaches; and
- Mentor and support staff in their day to day assessment and care of people with substance use disorders including providing consultancy on individual cases and video conferencing support.
Lyndon is seeking an individual who holds relevant tertiary qualifications in a health or welfare discipline and experience in drug and alcohol service delivery. You will have worked previously in a supervisory and support of Counsellors position and have the demonstrated ability to assess training and development of others and work out how to bridge training gaps.
Ideally with a background in working with/for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal professionals, organisations and communities. Candidates who have worked in a rural or remote area previously would also be held in high regard.
Regular travel around Dubbo and surrounding regions is a part of this role and as such you will need to possess a driver's license and the ability and willingness to travel as required.
Finally, with high-level communication skills, you will be a friendly, outgoing and approachable person who can develop positive working relationships with clients, team members and other agencies in the community.
While not a requirement of the role, Aboriginal and Indigenous persons are strongly encouraged to apply.
