About the Opportunity
Traisa Transport now has an exciting full-time opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team based in Lae, Papua New Guinea.
Due to the developing nature of the industry and the business, this is not a ‘typical’ Operations Manager position – you will be expected to implement and manage processes, strategies and staff, but also to roll up your sleeves to get the job done. No job will be too small or too big.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Traveling to satellite operations on a regular basis and reviewing operations for efficiencies and general performance, including visiting client sites in the local area;
- Monthly reporting on delivery performance against budget;
- Assisting in the development of QA ISO9001/2015 certification including implementation, development and roll-out of processes and policies of the operation;
- Overseeing the Senior Driver Committee including attending meetings to steer and guide direction; and
- Regularly reviewing and optimising fleet scheduling, including developing methods to improve fleet utilisation.
To be considered for this position you will have extensive, on-highway transport experience with trucks, trailers and tankers and the proven ability to run the day-to-day operations of a transport company. With considerable knowledge of the transport industry and operations processes, you will be well-versed in dealing with drivers and fatigue management, and any experience in the preparation of transport cost models, tenders and/or contracts would be highly regarded.
This role dictates a high-level of day-to-day interaction with staff in a multi-cultural environment. Joining a diverse team of expats and PNG nationals with various levels of experience and expertise, you will have well-developed communication and management skills, which will ensure the effective management of staff and thus, successful outcomes for clients.
Candidates must have previous experience living and/or working in similar developing countries, to be considered for this position. You will have an understanding of and an ability to adapt to cultural differences easily, being able to apply this practically, and you will have a resilient nature and an understanding of the environment you'll be working in – bringing with you the ability to hit the ground running and adapt to your new way of life.
Please note: This is a residential role and is not suitable for FIFO workers.
